GISEC Global 2025, the Middle East and Africa’s largest and most influential cybersecurity event, concluded with groundbreaking impact setting 11 new Guinness World Records and reaffirming Dubai’s status as a global hub for cybersecurity innovation. Held from May 6-8 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the 14th edition of GISEC welcomed over 25,000 visitors, 750+ global cybersecurity brands, and 350 speakers from more than 160 countries

In a stunning display of leadership, coordination, and education, the UAE Cybersecurity Council, host of GISEC Global, led efforts that resulted in the achievement of 11 official Guinness World Records. These records highlight Dubai’s commitment to digital resilience, global collaboration, and cybersecurity awareness at unprecedented scale.

  6. Most nationalities in a cybersecurity awareness lesson
  7. Largest ransomware awareness session
  8. Most nationalities attending a ransomware cybersecurity training session
  9. Most people in a ransomware cybersecurity training session
  10. Largest cyberbullying awareness lesson
  11. Largest cybersecurity event

These accomplishments underscore the UAE’s leadership in promoting a secure digital ecosystem and its ability to mobilize international cyber capacity like no other event worldwide.

Global Cyberdrill Sets New Standards

A key component of this year’s edition was the Global Cyberdrill, organized in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the UAE Cybersecurity Council. This global initiative gathered over 130 national cybersecurity authorities, CERTs, CIRTs, and CSIRTs from around the world to sharpen collective response capabilities. Egypt ranked first, followed by Lebanon and Belarus, in the cyber threat simulation competition a testament to increasing regional cyber competence.

Startups and Unicorns in the Spotlight

The GISEC North Star Startups Pitch Competition, powered by Cyber E71, drew major attention as 20 early-stage cybersecurity companies showcased disruptive technologies to an elite panel of judges, including:

  • Dovi Frances, Founding Partner, Group 11
  • Dr. Chenxi Wang, Founder of Rain Capital

Exploit3rs, led by CEO Jumaa AlShamsi, won the Judges’ Choice Award, while SPLXAI was named Best Market Disruptor. Other winners included Risknox (Best Innovative Solution) and Snode Technologies (Best Growth Potential).

Cybersecurity Challenges and Recognition

The Dubai Cyber Challenge, hosted by the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), tested government entities across scenarios involving web security, reverse engineering, and digital forensics. Digital Dubai won first place, followed by Dubai Customs and ENOC.

The School of Cyber Defense Championship drew over 300 student applications and showcased the next generation of cyber defenders. Al Ain University took first place, followed by the University of Dubai and Abu Dhabi University. Winners shared AED 130,000 in prizes.
